Granville, a Great Summer Resort

By admin on January 26th, 2009

by: Jakob Jelling

Granville is often described as one of the most attractive summer resorts of northern France. This town, located in the region of Normandy, is constantly receiving visitors from the entire world as well as from France since it is ideal for relaxing and spending a great vacation.
The town of Granville has been considered a great summer resort and tourism spot since the XIX century. Although it always has been seen as a very beautiful spot and has received visitors from several different regions, it was not until two centuries ago that Granville started becoming the popular place it is to the date.
Besides than being famous as a tourism spot, Granville is also widely known as a fishing area. This way, the main resources of this town are based on sea related activities, and most of its incomes are based on the visitors its beaches attract and fishing activities.
One of the most attractive times of the year for visiting Granville might probably be during its Mardi Gras Carnival. Granville’s Mardi Gras Carnival is a festivity which has been traditional to the town for more than a century. This way, during this festivity the town receives an important amount of visitors who approach attracted by it as well as by the beaches and many other natural characteristics of the town.
The Mardi Gras Carnival of Granville has been celebrated every year since 1872, and it is, nowadays, an activity typical of the area. Originally, this festivity was based on the preparation fisherman would have to go through before going into the sea, and, although nowadays the festivity is much broader and includes several different activities, those roots are still at the base of the celebration.
Granville’s Mardi Gras festival is usually celebrated during the month of February. One of the most interesting and fun activities of this celebration are the one known as “the day of intrigue”. During the day of intrigue, the town inhabitants, as well as many visitors, wear masks in order to intrigue and trick the others while meeting or walking around the town.

Las Vegas For Kids

By admin on December 29th, 2008

by: Eric Madsen

Next to hitting a big enough jackpot to retire early, what?s the other secret wish of vacationing parents on the Strip? Freedom from ?the kids?. Studies conducted by the Las Vegas Visitor?s Bureau show that over 5 million kids visit Las Vegas each year. Camp Las Vegas is the first of its kind to offer tours on the Las Vegas Strip specially designed for kids, aged 7 to 17.
The tours run by day (10am to 2pm) and evening (6pm to 10pm), seven days a week. Granted, this camp is not your average arts-and-crafts variety. It?s adventure with a capital ?A?. Tour activities combine everything from shark sightings, safaris, mummy tombs, knight jousting, roller coasters, American Idol auditions, 3-D movies to arcade games.
You won?t find any sack lunches, here. All tours include a meal at hip restaurants like Rainforest Caf?, Planet Hollywood, NASCAR Caf? and more. Plus, kids go home with a free t-shirt and gift.
All Camp Las Vegas tour activities are rated ?K? for kid-approved. Safety goes beyond screening entertainment content. Adhering to the highest security standards, the camp offers a secured check-in and check-out process of children at various hotels on the Strip where each tour commences and ends.
A ratio of one camp director for every six campers and a maximum limit of twelve kids per tour ensure a secure, supervised environment. Furthermore, all camp tour directors have passed local, state, and national background checks.
The best news? Parental peace of mind comes at a wallet-kind price. The adventure tours are priced at only $99. Since it?s inception, Las Vegas has always been known as an adult playground. Kids were never considered the target tourist market for the glittering jewel destination in the desert? until Camp Las Vegas.

Finding Fun Date Ideas

By admin on November 18th, 2008

by: Alan Detwiler

Need an idea for what to do on a date? Here’s how to go about finding ideas for new and unusual dates that are enjoyable and memorable.
The three most usual choices for what to do on a date are dinner, a movie, and a public event such as a sports game or concert. Those activities often give the couple several hours of time to enjoy each other’s company. But relying on those same activities too often, leads to a loss of a sense of drama and a loss of a sense of importance of the time spent together.
Human nature craves the out-of-the-ordinary. A new experience raises awareness and pumps up our interest level. If a couple continues to occasionally find new and unusual choices for what to do, their time together will be more enjoyable.
Probably the best way to find new ideas for what to do for a date is to make a point of being on the lookout for possibilities. You might see something in the newspaper or in a magazine. Someone you know could share an idea they have had. You never know when an idea will present itself.
You should also actively search for new and unusual things to do. A great place to look for ideas is web sites about things you are interested in. Use Google or your favorite search engine. Key in words or phrases that describe the activities and events that you find interesting and enjoyable. Look through the list of web sites found with the search. Look at the sites that seem most promising. The local visitors’ bureau is a possible source of ideas. They will likely have many brochures about local attractions. Look in the community events section of your newspaper. Check out the listings with you county, city or community center. Look through the brochures at the Chamber of Commerce. Look in the yellow pages under headings such as canoeing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, photography classes, and art museums. Check the bulletin board at the library. Use your imagination to adapt what you see at those places to suit your own interests and tastes. Once you have identified a particular interest, go to shops that sell equipment for that activity. Ask about events and programs in your locality.
Keep a list of possible activities. Have a place to keep information such as brochures, maps, and visitors’ guides. Set up folders in your computer for storing information you have found online. Use Notepad to copy and paste just what is of interest to you. The File menu of most web browsers has a Save As command that can be used to save an entire web page.
Be open to any suggestions and preferences your partner has to offer. Try to be sensitive to his/her tastes and interests. Give almost as much importance to his/her enjoyment of the date as your own enjoyment. After all, you probably won’t enjoy the date if your partner doesn’t.
Try to choose activities that give enough opportunities for communication. Conversation and comments you and your date make to each other are often the most important part of the date. Couples need to find out each other’s values and interests. Couples need reassurance and the stimulation of each other’s ideas.
Pursue your own interests. Being passionate about something makes you more interesting. An old dream may be lurking in your memory. Or pursue a recent fantasy. What you do and where you go on a date is not so critical if the person you are spending time with is interesting and caring. Finally, stay informed to stay interesting. Keep up with current events and issues. Listen to the news and news commentary programs. One good source I like is the web sites of National Public Radio.

Cruising: Fun & Affordable

By admin on November 15th, 2008

by: Thomas Schoonover

Many people pass up going on a cruise for their vacation because of the myth that it is expensive. However, cruising has become a fun and economical way to vacation for young and old alike. It could be considered a downright bargain compared to staying at a resort, hotel, or private villa.
Cruising is not bound to any particular age group either. There are fun activities for all ages aboard a ship, catering to small children, their parents, singles, middle-aged groups to elderly grandparents. However, a cruise that is longer than a week or that has destination ports further north will typically have an older crowd.
The first thing people think of when cruising is mentioned is of course food. A person on a cruise is typically assigned a dining room, dinner time and specific table companions to sit with for the duration of the cruise. There they are treated to extraordinary culinary delights and fine wines. If it is a week long cruise there will be probably be one or two formal nights where people dress in suits and cocktail dresses.
There are more choices on where to dine than the dining room. Many ships have smaller bistro-like restaurants, buffets many times during the day, snack bars, in-cabin service and many now have 24- hour pizzerias on board. Included in the price of the cruise are usually fruit juices, coffee, hot chocolate, water and teas. A slight downfall for cruising is soft-drinks and alcoholic beverages are at extra cost.
After eating all of the food that a cruise has to offer there are numerous activities, physical and social to do. Most cruises have fully equipped gyms and exercise classes. Many even have rock walls, rollerblade tracks, and jogging runs. There are always people playing games of volleyball, basketball and on a warmer cruise they can work off the calories by taking a swim.
There is more fun to be had aboard a cruise than just eating and exercising. As previously mentioned there are usually many pools. Some pools even have water slides. Days and nights can be spent gambling in casinos, drinking at the numerous bars and lounges, attending one of the Las Vegas-like shows, shopping, or sitting in the video and book libraries or reading rooms.
Pampering oneself can also be a part of the cruising experience. Most shipboard spas rival spas on land. There are many options for obtaining facials, manicure, pedicures, hair salon treatments and massages. Appointments go fast so they must be booked early. Usually free are the steam rooms, saunas and hot tubs.
Unless it is a cruise to nowhere, the ship will be stopping at exciting ports of call. If the ship is docked cruisers can just walk off the gangway. ff the ship is too large, motorized launches, called tenders, are used as ferries to get cruisers ashore. Each ship has organized excursions at each port of call that are available for sign up for before landing at the destination. They range in price from cheap to expensive depending on the type of activity desired. They can be a day at the beach to horseback riding, jeep excursions, shopping trips to nighttime clubbing. If a cruiser is not interested in hanging out with a group from the ship they can always opt to explore the port of call on their own.
As shown in this article, cruising is a great way to enjoy a vacation. Along with its affordability, it is extremely exciting with many fun activities available to enjoy.

Finding The Best Oahu Activities Discounts

By admin on November 8th, 2008

by: Greg Mattson

Are you a “coupon-cutter”? Well, if you’re looking to find some Oahu activities discounts on your Hawaii vacation, you’ll do well in Waikiki!
There are lots of discounts and coupons on Oahu attractions to be found, Waikiki coupons are good for discounts on Polynesian shows, sunset cruises, Hawaiian luaus, dolphin shows, zoo and aquarium, and submarine rides, just to name a few.
Usually what we do is just take an hour or two at the start of our Waikiki holiday and stroll down some of the main Waikiki avenues (Kuhio Ave, Kalakaua Ave and Lewers St. are 3 of our favorites). In vending boxes and dispensers, you’ll find all kinds of Oahu attractions booklets and guides.
Then, it’s help yourself time! It’s easy to load up on meal discounts, 2-for-1 Mai Tai offers, guided tour deals, and so on.
Another good place to find Oahu attraction discount coupons and offers is in the Honolulu newpapers, like the Star Bulletin (especially on weekends).
Here’s a look at some of the popular publications that are full of discounts and coupons on Oahu attractions, shows, tours and restaurants:
This Week Oahu - free guide to Oahu activities. Maps, news, and coupons for discounts on shopping, dining, attractions and more. They are everywhere! Hotel lobbies, street display stands, tourist attractions, ABC stores, and more. This is my personal favorite, and the maps and other tour info make this booklet a must-have.
The Best of Oahu - another free guide, this one is smaller (palm sized). Available in most of the same places This Week Oahu is found. 15+ pages of coupons at the back for discounts on Hawaiian souvenirs, restaurants and Oahu attractions.
101 Things To Do on Oahu - a bit harder to find, check the larger brochure and pamphlet stands thoroughly. Magazine-sized guide to an extensive list of things to do on Oahu, with 2-for-1 and 50% off coupons on sights and shows.

New Zealand Travel

By admin on October 21st, 2008

by: Ramnish Gupta

New Zealand is one of the ultimate travel destinations in the Southern Hemisphere, with something for just about anyone. New Zealand has everything, right from ski fields to volcanoes, from big cities to small towns and from beaches to mountains.
New Zealand currently has a population of just over 4 million people. Auckland is the biggest city with over 1.2 million people and the capital city Wellington has a population of around 400,000. Most of the country’s resident population is based in North Island and so, South Island offers the opportunity to get away from the busy cities and get up close and personal with the elements.
New Zealand offers a lot of activities, especially for the adventurous kind. You can bungee jump, ski and snow board, relax on the beach, go for a bike ride, take a 4 wheel drive adventure, ski dive, surf or simply, shop! Most adventurous activities are available in the South Island, whereas North Island offers the charm of the big cities, some great shopping as well as some uniquely New Zealand attractions, like the Maori village in Rotorua.
The best way to travel around New Zealand would be in a rental car. Most New Zealand cities are very well connected with the main motorways and traffic is usually not a problem. There are information centres in most tourist areas, providing useful travel information, maps etc.
